Cultivating Inner City Chefs One Seed at a Time!

The Junior Chef Society (JCS) is a community-based program aimed at creating culinary career opportunities for inner city youth ages 14 – 25.

Through urban agriculture, culinary training and job placement within local restaurants we will assist youth in becoming successfully employed and gain an understanding of what it means to be self-sufficient.

We Envision

A future where Oakland youth are woven into the fabric of the local economy and recipients of meaningful jobs.

Where youth facilitate healthy eating habits in their communities, develop an appreciation for farm to table food, and eagerly become active participants in the growth of the top level restaurants.
